Remedial Works At La Carriere

The Department for Infrastructure will shortly be commencing works to underpin and repair the “apron” and southwest corner of the 4.7cm casemate bunker at La Carriere.

The structures have been seriously undermined by wave action, and the remedial works are long overdue.

Matthew Costard, our Heritage & Planning Liaison Officer, first raised the issue with TTS (predecessor to DFI) two years ago, and has been in regular contact with the department since. Budget constraints have apparently been the cause of the delay, and we are delighted that the works will be completed before the bunker is subjected to another winter of stormy seas.
